Replace your LCD Screen Panels

It's never convenient when your laptop's LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen goes bad. However, it is not very difficult to deal with. Your LCD has a backlight that allows you to view images on your screen that is powered by an inverter installed into your LCD panel. If that inverter goes bad, your LCD screen Panels will either start to go dark or it will be completely black. The laptop requires some minimal assembly to remove and replace the LCD screen.



Disconnect all power from your laptop. This includes powering down the computer, disconnecting the power cable and removing the battery pack from its compartment on the bottom casing of the laptop.



Open the laptop's LCD Screen Panels all the way. Use a small, flat head screwdriver to remove the rubber screw covers from the front panel of the LCD screen.



Remove the six screws from the front panel of the LCD screen with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the front panel from the laptop and set it aside.



Remove the two screws from each side of the metal frame encasing the LCD screen. Carefully place the LCD screen face down on the laptop's keyboard. Disconnect the LCD ribbon cable and the power inverter cable from the back panel of the LCD screen.



Locate the inverter board on the bottom edge of the back of the LCD screen. Remove the single screws from each side of the inverter board.



Connect the LCD cable to the back of the new LCD screen. Connect the power inverter cable to the inverter board on the back of the new LCD screen. Place the new LCD screen inside the LCD panel. Align the screw holes on the LCD screen with the screw holes on the metal frame. Replace the two screws on each side of the frame until the LCD screen is secured inside the panel.



Replace the front panel of the LCD screen Panels and the six retaining screws. Close the LCD screen and place the laptop face down. Place the battery pack back inside its compartment. Place the laptop face up and reconnect the power cable and turn on the laptop to test the new LCD screen.
